The Challenge

TAG  Fine Arts was in need of a website revamp and upgrade, running on the older (and no longer supported) Magento 1.9 ecommerce platform – with a WordPress blog. Lilo met with the management of TAG to discuss all their needs, and we recommended an upgrade to the latest version of Magento 2 while keeping the blog on WordPress.

Solution

In this case study, the Lilo web development and web design teams recommended a migration from Magento 1.9 to Magento 2 to support the eCommerce website. TAG wanted to keep the original look and feel of their website, with minor design tweaks to improve the overall atmosphere and usability so our teams suggested onsite optimisation that would improve the site’s performance

Result

We developed a site with an SEO-friendly setup. With the shift to a new setup, time was taken to clean up obsolete content, with relevant redirects ensuring that all old links still work. This resulted in a streamlined website with a great improvement in performance and user engagement. Revenue and transactions also increased as site visibility was higher and user experience was better.

The Challenge.

TAG Fine Arts is a contemporary art dealer and publisher based on Upper Street, Islington. Since launching in 2006, they have represented emerging and established contemporary artists through a programme of exhibitions, commissions, major publishing projects, and collaborations with museums and non-commercial institutions.

TAG is currently facing a critical issue with their website. The website is in need of a revamp and upgrade as it is running on the outdated and unsupported Magento 1.9 ecommerce platform. Additionally, there is a WordPress blog integrated into the website. To address this problem, the Lilo designers had a meeting with TAG’s management to thoroughly understand their requirements and propose a suitable solution.

The Solution

Lilo has devised a comprehensive plan to address the website revamp and upgrade needed for TAG Fine Arts. Currently, TAG’s website runs on the outdated and unsupported Magento 1.9 ecommerce platform, along with a WordPress blog. In our consultation with TAG’s management, we have proposed a solution that involves upgrading the website to the latest version of Magento 2 while retaining the WordPress blog.

Our recommendation is based on the understanding that an SEO-friendly website setup can significantly improve TAG Fine Arts’ return on investment, leading to increased revenue and transactions. By upgrading the website to Magento 2, we anticipate improved sales performance as the new ecommerce setup will facilitate smoother transactions and enhance overall customer experience.

We have also made a strategic decision to maintain the blog on WordPress. This choice allows for greater flexibility and customization options, ensuring that the site can be tailored precisely to meet TAG’s specific requirements. With an open-source platform like WordPress, TAG Fine Arts will have the freedom to customize and personalize the blog as needed.

To ensure easy management for TAG Fine Arts, we will implement a user-friendly CMS (Content Management System). This will enable the client to effortlessly upload new content, make changes to existing content, and remove outdated information without encountering any difficulties.

By implementing this plan, we aim to provide TAG Fine Arts with an upgraded website on the latest version of Magento, enhanced SEO capabilities, a well-maintained WordPress blog, and an easy-to-manage CMS. This comprehensive approach will optimize TAG’s online presence, streamline their operations, and cater to the unique needs of their business.

The Result?

Once the website went live, the case study for TAG Fine Arts showed that a website with an SEO-friendly set up improved the company’s return of investment as revenue and number of transactions went up. Upgrading the website to Magento 2 also had an impact on sales as the eCommerce setup could run more smoothly and customers could make their purchases more efficiently. Maintaining the blog on WordPress was a strategic decision as the platform is open source, allowing for customisation and personalisation so the site could be tailored to the exact requirements of the client. It is also an easy-to-manage- CMS so the client will have no issues with uploading new content, making changes to current content or removing old content.

Overall, the case study was a success in terms of web design and development, as well as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Our SEO and Digital Marketing teams worked closely with the client to come up with a strategy that helped increase brand visibility as well as rankings and organic traffic.
