Brief
‘Jeans for Refugees’ is a Johny Dar project – an artistic fundraising initiative dedicated to helping refugees around the world, with all proceeds going to the International Rescue Committee.
Over 100 celebrities – including Elton John, Emma Watson, Ryan Gosling and more – were asked to donate their own jeans, which Johny Dar painted in his unique style. After a number of promotional events, the jeans were to be sold off to raise money for the #JeansForRefugees campaign.
The site required a strong visual presence, to help showcase each celebrity and their jeans, and also show off Johny Dar’s signature style. Sections for project collaborators, event news, and press were also needed. To show our support for this wonderful charity, we designed and developed this website pro bono.
What We Did
Lilo chose WordPress to develop the Jeans for Refugees website.
For each live event and exhibition that showcased the Jeans for Refugees line, such as New York Fashion Week, a live-streaming video section was added to the top of the home page.
To navigate to each different content section on the home page, a unique hovering side menu was implemented. The home page prominently displayed the celebrities involved with the project, each with an encouraging short message. Each celebrity was also given their own portfolio page, where their uniquely-painted jeans were exhibited.
A Media Kit section was incorporated for press officials to download relevant information and resources from – to assist in promoting this cause.
As usual, the site was created to be both responsive SEO-friendly and mobile-friendly.
