ENA Smarter Networks. Portal for the UK’s Smart Grid – Lilo

Brief

An essential part of meeting the challenges of our energy future, is to deliver smarter networks. This portal site is the definitive source of information, updates and learning on ENA members’ networks, and their development of the Smart Grid. The Smarter Networks portal is the go-to-place for smart grid development and innovation projects in the UK.

ENA required:

• A clean, clear and functional look and user experience, to also be used on their sister site, the Network Innovation Collaboration Portal
• New functionality to satisfy their users’ needs – such as advanced search and reporting function

What We Did

Lilo developed a bespoke CMS-driven solution on the .Net web platform, to incorporate the following new functionaility:

• Increased prominence of project documents e.g. NIA registration, progress and closedown reports, innovative document viewer or cascading document viewing Automated tagging of content against pre defined vocabulary
• Search function – usability and user experience was a key target, with an advanced search function needed with added filtering options
• Improvement and update to their existing project registration database – including the option to add tables, charts and images in PDF documents. Improvement to existing project change control process and improved tracking and versioning of updated projects
• Reporting function – Compile report from back-end between specific dates, network operators, sector, project status, innovation funding, areas of specific interest etc. PDF or Excel document created
